Event Details

UWI Open Campus, Dominica Reparations Committee and the House of Nyabinghi cordially invite you to attend the Twelfth Annual Dame Eugenia Charles Memorial Lecture.

This year, Dr. June Soomer, Secretary-General of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), will present on the topic: “Upgrading to first-class: The role and contributions of Dominican women in the Caribbean Reparations Movement.”

At this lecture, Dr. Soomer will address the role and contributions of women in Dominica to the cause of freedom and the Reparations Movement, which is the fight for freedom, justice and the acknowledgement of the great crimes committed against the African and indigenous people and its lingering, concomitant injustices. She will argue that if we do not put the redress of the dehumanisation of African and indigenous women at the heart of the movement, we will never get justice and reparations for all.

This event is free and open to all.”
