Job Description

Become the Director of Student Activities at Dominica State College and lead the charge in student engagement and development. Plan and execute vibrant co-curricular events, foster partnerships, and support student success. Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's Degree, experience in higher education, and strong communication skills. Join us in creating a thriving student community.

Responsibility

  • Develop, introduce and plan all co-curricular events for students on and off campus.
  • Lead the College effort towards effective engagement of students in co-curricular activities.
  • Work with the student government in the design and implementation of programmes for student support.
  • Supervise Sports Coordinator and Departmental Secretary.
  • Negotiate and secure sponsorship and partnerships for co-curricular activities
  • Plan and execute budgets for co-curricular events.
  • Create and maintain partnerships with corporate bodies, NGO’s, international agencies, co-operatives, employment agencies, community and government.
  • Work with appropriate College entities to enhance student academic performance through a variety of means: counselling, study skills, institutional lecture series, educational visits and exchanges, library exchanges etc., and the integration of technology in their individual learning plan.
  • Maintain a system of student volunteerism through highly organized outreach programmes (Service Learning Programme).
  • Promote student exchanges and involvement in sporting and other cultural activities.
  • Oversee administration and activities of all student clubs at the College.
  • Manage the College’s annual orientation, commencement exercise and other major student development events.

Experience and Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field
  • A Master’s Degree would be an asset
  • A minimum of two years of higher education administration or experience in student affairs or related areas.
  • Event planning experience would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of integrated student information systems.
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent managerial, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
