Job Description

Anse Kouanari Tourism Association Inc. is a non-profit, community-based organization serving the community of Castle Bruce and environs since 2012. The organization was set up to help address many of the tourism, environment, and socio-economic-related challenges in the community of Castle Bruce and environs. AKTA’s mission is to develop and implement community projects and to encourage the involvement of key stakeholders. AKTA operates so that its programs contribute to the national tourism product by establishing and enhancing all the elements which are unique to Castle Bruce and its neighbouring communities. Moreover, that any projects being implemented will ultimately boost the economies of the target communities and the country by extension.

With funding from GEF Small Grant Programme, we are currently implementing an Apiary Project. The project aims to address critical environmental and economic challenges in the Castle Bruce District by recognizing the vital role of bees in pollination, biodiversity, and food security. Through a holistic approach, the initiative seeks to educate, equip, and empower community members with sustainable beekeeping practices. The project includes the provision of start-up hives and essential tools and implements a robust public awareness campaign to promote bee conservation, biodiversity, and sustainable income generation through honey production.

The Graphic Designer and Social Media Manager will play a pivotal role in developing and disseminating engaging content and materials that enhance the project’s visibility, inspire community participation, and promote bee-friendly practices.

We invite suitably qualified contractors to submit proposals for the position of Graphic Designer and Social Media Manager, as outlined below.

Objectives

  1. Create and implement a robust social media strategy to raise awareness of project activities and goals.
  2. Develop visually compelling designs and content to communicate the importance of bees and biodiversity conservation.

Responsibility

Graphic Design

  • Design visually appealing materials for public awareness campaigns, including flyers, brochures and posters.
  • Create educational content on beekeeping and bee conservation, such as infographics and instructional visuals.
  • Develop branding and design a label for honey and other related products that will come out of this project.

Social Media Management

  • Develop and execute a social media strategy to highlight the project’s goals, activities and impact.
  • Create, schedule and publish high-quality, engaging content across social media platforms (Facebook and Instagram).
  • Use platforms to share updates, promote events, and educate the public about bee conservation and biodiversity.
  • Monitor social media channels, respond to comments and inquiries, and engage with the online community.
  • Track and analyze social media performance, providing monthly reports with insights and recommendations for improvement.

Public Awareness Campaigns

  • Collaborate with the project team to produce materials for special presentations and
  • Use graphics and social media to amplify messaging about the role of bees in biodiversity and food security.

    • Visuals and messaging for public awareness campaigns

Experience and Qualifications

  • Proven experience in graphic design and social media management.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite or Canva.
  • Demonstrated ability to create impactful designs and manage engaging social media campaigns.
  • Strong understanding of biodiversity and environmental conservation is an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
