Job Description

Vyve Eye Care invites a detail-oriented and compassionate Optometrist to join our growing practice in Dominica. You’ll deliver quality patient care while managing optical store operations in collaboration with our team and on-site Ophthalmologist.

Responsibility

• Clinical examination of patients to determine refractive error and writing glasses prescriptions
• Prescribing and fitting of contact lenses, providing education on their care and use, and conducting aftercare follow-up appointments
• Screening for eye disease such as Glaucoma and Diabetic Retinopathy and referral of such cases to on-site Ophthalmologist
• Preparing patients to see the Ophthalmologist (preliminary exam, medical history, and testing)
• Performing special testing such as Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT) and Humphrey Visual Fields (HVF)
• Assisting with training of support staff
• Assisting with the management of the Optical store
• Providing advice to patients on lens type, coatings and tints, frames, and styling, and adjusting, fitting, and repairing spectacles
• Taking frame and facial measurements to ensure correct frame fit and positioning
• Placing orders with the Optical lab and checking lab orders on delivery to ensure that they meet the required specifications
• Educating and counseling clients on available products and services
• Taking responsibility for setting and meeting sales targets and practice growth
• Arranging and maintaining displays
• Maintaining stock levels
• Planning and administering business development goals, including marketing activities
• Keeping accurate patient and business records 

Experience and Qualifications

• BSc or Doctor of Optometry (OD)
• Skilled in refraction, retinoscopy, contact lens fitting
• Proficient with OCT, HVF, fundus photography, A/B scans
• Excellent communication and counseling skills
• Comfortable leading support teams and handling retail operations
• Strong customer service and business awareness
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities
• Ability to manage stock, set targets, and execute visual merchandising
• Comfortable with electronic medical recordkeeping and diagnostics
