Job Description
Join the Dominica National Conservation Trust Fund (DNCTF) as a Programme Assistant and contribute to preserving Dominica's natural resources. This role involves providing programmatic and administrative support to the Secretariat, Board, and Committees. Work closely with the CEO to support the DNCTF’s objectives, fostering biodiversity conservation. Be part of a team that drives impactful conservation initiatives in Dominica.
Responsibility
The Programme Assistant is expected to provide programmatic and administrative services, including logistical and other support to the DNCTF Secretariat, Board of Directors, and the DNCTF Committees in the fulfilment of the DNCTF’s objectives. The Programme Assistant will work under the guidance and supervision of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Specific Objectives
- Ability to perform a variety of specialized tasks related to Results Management, including support to design, planning and implementation of programmes, collection and managing data, and reporting.
- Provide administrative and secretarial services/support particularly during donors’ missions and other project related meetings.
- Assist in the organization and preparation of the DNCTF workshops/events/meetings and record minutes or notes.
- Provide support in communication of the DNCTF programmes and activities on a DNCTF website and social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn).
- Assist in the procurement of DNCTF related activities (goods/supplies and other needed items).
- Provide, as needed, general secretarial, administrative services such as typing, filing, photocopying, organization of meetings and travel arrangements, data entry, respond to emails and telephone calls etc.
- Support the collation and organization of all DNCTF documents, inclusive of correspondence, proposals, purchase orders, contracts, financial statements, and other documents, in a coherent, effective, accessible, and well-maintained archive.
- Assist in the creation and monitoring of a Contracts Register, Fixed Assets Register, and development of various templates and forms.
- Ensure that all stationery and other supplies required for the effective functioning of the DNCTF, is adequately stocked and replenished on a timely basis.
- Perform other related duties as may be assigned or requested.
Experience and Qualifications
All candidates for the position of Chief Executive Officer must provide evidence of the following skills and abilities:
- A Bachelor Degree in Environmental Sciences, Business Administration, Management, Finance, Economics, and other related fields or at least 4 years of professional experience in any of these areas.
- High proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.) and internet use (emails, web search and navigation, and social media platforms).
Experience
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in office management/administration/project management or minimum of 4 years’ experience in case of lower educational degree than required.
- Experience in gathering and compilation of technical information.
- Technical knowledge and familiarity with biodiversity conservation/environmental programmes will be considered an advantage.
Language Proficiency:
A high level of proficiency in oral and written communication in English is required. Additional language (Creole, French or Spanish) will be an asset.

The Dominica National ConservationTrust Fund Inc. (DNCTF) is a not-for-profit company formed under the Companies Act 21 of 1994 of Dominica and incorporated in September 2022.
The DNCTF is intended to provide a sustainable source of funding to support the conservation, restoration and management of Dominica's marine and terrestrial natural resources. Some support will come from the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund (CBF), in the form of annual funding from investment returns from an endowment fund with fund deposit dedicated for Dominica from KfW (German Development Bank). Fundamentally, the DNCTF will receive funding from additional funding sources. It will award grants to government agencies, NGOs and other qualifying entities to support the effective management of management projects in Dominica.
