Job Description
The Dominica Hospitals Authority is hiring a Security and Safety Manager to lead all safety operations. This senior role involves disaster planning, security oversight, team management, and policy enforcement. Candidates must bring 10+ years in law enforcement and strong leadership in high-risk environments.
Responsibility
- Organize the security personnel to ensure that adequate protection is provided to all property under the control of the Authority at all times as well as to persons using that property
- Monitor the effectiveness of the security and the safety systems to ensure that they are functional and in good condition
- Assist the Management team with the development of an effective and efficient disaster recovery plan
- Collaborate with the management team to activate the disaster plan upon receiving any impending weather conditions from the Disaster Preparedness Office.
- Develop, document, and ensure the implementation of safety and security practices and procedures
- Maintain and update Safety and Security Management Documents
- Review, recommend, and participate in the recruitment and selection of security and safety staff following the Authority’s policies and procedures
- Organize suitable training for security and related staff
- Promote security awareness and vigilance of the hospital’s facility personnel
Experience and Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree in criminology, cybersecurity, risk management, disaster management and/or a related field plus ten (10) years of experience as senior law enforcement officer. OR
- An Associate Degree in criminology, cybersecurity, risk management, disaster management, or a related field plus ten (10) years of experience as senior law enforcement officer.
- Strong Communication and presentation skills
- Ability to train, mentor and coach security personnel and other members of staff
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
- Critical thinking skills and the ability to research, analyse, evaluate and solve problems
- Ability to work with a variety of healthcare professionals
- Team player with strong attention to detail
- Computer and software skills
Benefits and Others
The successful applicant will receive a compensation package that will be commensurate with experience and qualifications for the post. The position will be on a contractual basis for two (2) years, with the possibility of renewal upon satisfactory performance.
