34 Cuban Specialists to Arrive on Thursday to Help With COVID-19
Thirty-four medical specialists from Cuba will be arriving Dominica on Thursday to help with the coronavirus situation on the island. The medical brigade will consist of five doctors, four laboratory technicians, and 25 nurses. They will join those already in the frontlines to prevent and treat COVID-19 cases in Dominica.
This was revealed by the Ministry of Health and confirmed by PM Roosevelt Skerrit who expressed appreciation to the Cuban government for their assistance.
“I want to extend my sincere gratitude to the Government and People of the Republic of Cuba, for once again showing solidarity with our country,” Skerrit stated. “I have always said that you know who your friends are in times of trouble.”
The prime minister further urged members of the public to adhere to all medical advisories regarding coronavirus. He warned people to be their brothers’ keeper and to report anyone who is not observing health protocols to health officials in various districts. He insisted that everyone must follow quarantine measures while officials of the Ministry of Health will continue to run surveillance and testing activities.
“The public is also advised to contact health officials in their districts regarding anyone not adhering to quarantine measures,” he stated.
