40+ Houses Springing Up In Salybia; Sports Field To Be Rehabilitated
The DLP administration is putting up more than 40 hurricane-resilient houses in Salybia. Under the leadership of PM Roosevelt Skerrit, the government said the houses will be completed within the next few months. Parliamentary representative for Salybia constituency, Cozier Frederick, said he is happy for the project.
Frederick said the houses are being constructed in Sineku and that all the construction workers are from the constituency. He said local workers such as plumbers, electricians, bricklayers, and capenters among others are employed for the project. He said this will not only ensure that the houses are built with diligence, but will also attract economic empowerment to the entire Kalinago Territory.
Depending on the fixtures of the houses, Frederick said each two-bedroom structure will cost from EC$100,000 to EC$125,000.
We speaking about a two-bedroom house with a washroom and kitchen facilities and built to standard so we see a comfortable home. And so we are able to provide as a Government that unit to a family so that we ensure that people are in a comfortable home with all of the trappings of a modern household.

In a related development, MP for Petite Savanne constituency, Dr. Kenneth Darroux, said the government is also working on a new housing development at Grandbay and that the contract will be signed in the coming weeks. People who suffered the devastation of Hurricane Erika on their homes in Dubuque can hope to have new houses in new places around the constituency.
Meanwhile, the sports field in Salybia has been scheduled for an upgrade to facilitate sports development in the region. Frederick said the field is being rehabilitated with collaboration from DVRP and that it will ensure bigger games are played at the arena.
Sports on a whole help with discipline. It also helps with keeping healthy and we realize that even within the constraints of the covid-19 pandemic we can still social distance in certain sporting activities. So we want the youth to use the field when completed. Take advantage of the opportunity the facility will afford you.
