A total of EC$9,135.30 has been generated from two football matches organized to raise medical funds for Felix Henderson. Widely renowned for his contribution to the Creole language, Henderson is currently undergoing medical treatment for a heart condition in Martinique.
The benefit football matches were organized by DBS Radio in collaboration with Signman, the Dominica Football Association (DFA), and Nature Boys Football among other partners.
Tagged “Playing for Felix,” the first match held between De Oh My Finger celebrities team and the national women team, and the second match held between Naf Tah Noon and Niniput. The games held at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium on Sunday.
In the first match, celebrities such as Colton T, Tasha P, Liam Sebastian, Peter Prosper, Curtis Mathew, and members of Signal Band as well as Triple K International featured in the match. The national women team eventually won the match with penalty kicks. In the second match, Naf Tah Noon won the game against Niniput by 2-1 goals.
According to Cecil Joseph, manager of DBS Radio, over EC$9,000 was generated from gate fees for the football matches and from personal donations given by people, many of them Henderson’s fans. Joseph thanked everyone for turning out for the matches and for their personal contributions, saying Henderson himself had been very helpful to the cultural development of Dominica.
Henderson did a lot as it pertains to the creole language and so we have seen the value and the growth of the creole language through his work, Now we have the World Creole Music Festival, we have the creole season, Creole Day, plus so much more and this is all out of the efforts of Mr Henderson and so many others.

The entire fund was given to Grace Henderson, the daughter of Felix Henderson, who thanked everyone for being part of the fundraising initiative. Meanwhile, a book launch on Henderson’s life is billed for launch on October 16 at DPSU building. The book is titled “An Autobiography of a Dominican Icon: Felix Henderson”.
Henderson himself thanked everyone from his hospital bed in Martinique, saying he is very overwhelmed by the public show of support.
To hear the quality of players and the names of persons that I respect in football over the years; it is just so exciting. I want to say a huge thank you to all of you who decided to play for Felix, the organizers and those who turned out to support the cause. Thank you for remembering me.
