Airport Construction Chairman Highlights Progress for Development
Chairman of the International Airport Development Company (IADC), Benoit Bardouille, has highlighted the progresses recorded in the development and construction of the proposed international airport in the country.
Bardouille said a lot of things have been set in motion for the completion of the airport. He disclosed that several geothermal tests are being conducted for the project and that the government is doing everything in its power to ensure a timely delivery of the airport. He said appropriate lands have been acquired and landowners have been paid based on negotiations made.
He also revealed that a laboratory is being constructed at the site of the proposed airport for soil analysis and other tests. He added that the government is also sourcing for equipment to be used in the lab and that things are moving pretty fast since the Skerrit-led administration is working on a strict timeline.
So from what I’m seeing, a number of things are moving and we are extremely elated to be able to ensure that Dominica can join the rest of its neighbors in terms of direct access cause one of the things that we have suffered especially in terms of our tourism numbers, is that we have been restricted because we don’t have direct access.

Bardouille added that PM Roosevelt Skerrit is very committed to the project and all Dominicans will appreciate his drive for the airport when it is ultimately completed.
