Anette Sanford Donates Half of Her Parliament Salary to Nurses Association

UWP’s Senator Anette Sanford, a trained nurse, has donated half of her parliament salary to the Dominica Nurses Association (DNA) in recognition of their efforts towards combating COVID-19 to a standstill in the country. She used the occasion of the Nurses Week celebrations to appreciate nurses for their renewed energy at combating coronavirus and treating infected patients.

“Like true fearless soldiers on the frontlines, nurses and other health practitioners around the world have been fighting a silent enemy, the COVID-19, and the battle is not yet won,” Nurse/Senator Sanford said. “If you are a nurse, please take a moment to accept my best wishes for your bravery and unrelenting service. I pray for strength and protection over you and your family, as you continue the good fight against COVID -19.”

Full of appreciation to all nurses and healthcare workers in the medical profession, Sanford called them “brothers and sisters” and thanked them profusely on behalf of herself, her family, the Kalinago Territory, and members of the parliament.

She urged healthcare workers to forge ahead in the battle against COVID-19 without fear, praying that the good Lord will extend his compassion over them as they keep on serving the nation without relenting. In giving 50% of her salary as a parliamentarian, Sanford prayed that “I hope that the good Lord can multiply my humble offerings.”
