Another Dominican Citizen Tests Positive to COVID-19 on Return from America

Another Dominican returnee from the United States has tested positive to COVID-19. According to the Coordinator of the Border Reopening Programme, Dr. Laura Esprit, the country now has four active coronavirus cases, 25 total infection cases, and 21 recovered cases.

The border reopening coordinator said the latest case arrived to Dominica aboard a flight last week to the Douglas-Charles Airport. The individual presented a PCR test result which was not valid enough for admittance, and so was swabbed at the screening section of the airport.

Pending the determination of the result, the individual was moved to a government facility. But following the positive result, the person was moved to a coronavirus treatment facility and the entire passengers aboard the passenger plane tested again to reevaluate their statuses.

“Since the last press briefing on September 8th, 2020, there is now one additional confirmed case of COVID-19,” Dr. Esprit said. “The traveler is a Dominican national who returned from the USA last week with a PCR test result which was deemed invalid. The PCR test result subsequently came in positive for COVID-19 and the client was immediately transferred and admitted to the COVID unit for medical management.”

The Dominican government continues to exercise every caution to prevent the occurrence of COVID-19 among the populace and with a total confirmed case of 25 in the country, there are only four active cases and no COVID-19 deaths whatsoever.
