A sixteen-member delegation of the Alternative Peoples’ Party (APP), representing 12 constituencies, met in Congress on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 to fulfil the mandate of the party’s Founders’ Conclave of October 10, 2021.
The Founders’ mandate was offered on the strength of Article 21: ii of the party’s Constitution which states that APP is “to serve as a cohesive movement that embraces peoples differences and represents the common good in all those who are affiliated by the APP through membership, and an alternative force for “good” in the politics of Dominica, either in and out of government”.
This has not been the case with the APP in recent time, and the delegates who responded to a public announcement which was made on October 12, 2021 for APP’s third Congress, decided on the following:
- A seven-member transitory Executive body, will lead the party’s efforts in ironing out an impasse which is currently taking place in the public;
- Notice to be served on the Electoral Office of Dominica on the decision of the Third Congress;
- The APP leadership will not make any further public announcement and deliberations until and unless a general Congress is held and a complement of administrative, political, and strategic leaders would have been appointed and announced.
We, the duly recognized and legally constituted body of the APP would like to thank the general public for your continued support, and we pledge that the party’s leaders will do what is necessary to represent the Founders vision which is enshrined in the letters and spirit of the Constitution.
All currently registered APP members and supporters are asked to take note as we move to unite the party along its Founding vision and mission. It is a wish of the Third Congress that all internal and private party matters be settled privately.
We have attached the copy APP’s Official Constitution which was ratified by the First Congress, and upheld by the Second and third Congress. There has been only three (3) Congress of the APP since its inception.
