Baby Dies at Daycare; Babysitter Arrested; Octavia Alfred Expresses Condolence
A babysitter has been arrested following the sudden death of an infant at a daycare centre. The 13-month-old baby was dropped off at the daycare facility by its mother in good health but was found unresponsive when the parent returned to retrieve the baby in the evening. A doctor at the DCFH declared the baby died when it was presented for examination at the hospital.
The incident occurred on January 10, 2023, and the nanny on duty on that day was later picked up by the police after a complaint was filed. The authorities have launched an investigation to unravel the circumstances of the death. The detained suspect is represented by attorney Ronald Charles and the case may come up for hearing in the courts at any moment.
This matter is an ongoing matter so there’s not much I can say. I have given my client certain [instructions] and it is a sad situation; but at the end of the day, we must understand the rule of law [exists] in whatever situation that may be or might be seen as challenging to many people.
Ronald Charles, Attorney
