Bus Drivers, Nursing Homes, and Prisoners Next In Line for COVID-19 Tests
The Ministry of Health has revealed that bus drivers, nursing homes, and prisoners are next in line for COVID-19 testing. With the ongoing community testing almost completed nationwide, the health ministry said this group of persons are high-risk for contracting coronavirus and must be tested to curtail the spread of the pandemic on the island.
Minister of Health, Dr. Irving McIntyre, recently noted that frontline workers in the health sector have been subjected to PCR testing and none of them had tested positive so far. He added that nursing homes, prisons, and bus drivers are in high-risk groups and must be tested to stop the spread of the disease and save lives in the process.
Meanwhile, Chief Environmental Health Officer Tassy Thomas has disclosed compliance certificates will henceforth be issued to businesses adhering to the mandatory protocols established by the Ministry of Health to prevent the spread of COVID-19. She said environmental health officials are in all communities around the country to assess the level of adherence to social distancing and sanitization requirements.
We have environmental health officers stationed all over Dominica. Our officers are equipped with the Guidelines Inspection Checklist as they go out there. After the inspection, if everything is in place and the business is complying with the guidelines as set up by the Ministry of Health, we offer you a compliance certificate.

She urged people to serve as the “eyes and ears” of the health ministry in reporting people and businesses which are not complying with government regulations since this is one of the ways to beat coronavirus on the island.
