The multi-million-dollar health facility newly constructed in Marigot is ready and awaiting commissioning. Health Minister Cassanni Laville led public officials to tour the new hospital grounds which cover 52,000 square feet of space.
Also in attendance to tour the New Marigot Hospital was the parliamentary representative for Marigot Constituency, Anthony Charles, and Senator Delbert Paris and Senator Lorraine Henderson-Reid among others. The hospital is scheduled to be commissioned in July.
We have many services that we will provide – in the basement for example, we have dwelling for staffs that will be on call, we have a chapel, a water storage tank, and we have a backup generator downstairs as well, and I can’t wait to see the industrial kitchen that we also have downstairs.
We equally have a state-of-the-art auditorium that can host meetings and trainings for various staffs. That is a big improvement on the ground floor; as we enter you will get to the reception or waiting area and we have many services like dialysis and laboratory services as well as a morgue on this floor too. We have dental and delivery rooms on this floor too.

After showing off various sections and services to be run in the hospital to public health and parliamentary officials, Laville expressed satisfaction at the level of work done so far at the new hospital. Constituency representative Anthony Charles also thanked the health minister and the government in general for carrying the Marigot people along in the planning and construction process.
Charles expressed great faith that the Marigot hospital will serve the health needs of people in Marigot and in other parts of Dominica. He also noted that the hospital will provide employment for non-medical staff from the constituency. He expressed joy that Marigot is witnessing significant development across many areas of governmental interventions.
