Castle Bruce People to Be Employed In $126.5 Million Road Project

Numerous people from the Castle Bruce constituency are to be employed for the road project linking Pond Casse to Petit Soufriere. The $126.5 million is to be executed under the Disaster Vulnerability Reduction Program and it is set to take off later this year.

According to Octavia Alfred, the Minister of Education and parliamentary representative for the Castle Bruce constituency, other feeder roads will be rehabilitated as well in addition to the Pond Casse-Petite Soufriere road.

Alfred said many people have indicated their interest for employment for the road construction projects, and that people from her constituency will be given preference. She asked people to apply for the work since this opportunity will provide a good source of income over a period of time.

“This project is one hundred and twenty six point five million dollars; and forty point five million will be spent in Castle Bruce,” she said. “So, we are glad and it’s even encouraging that people are positioning themselves to go to work.”

Potential workers and residents in the constituency have expressed joy at the road construction project and urged the government to expedite action on getting the project off the ground. They said the road project will facilitate travel and movement of goods between Pond Casse and Petite Soufriere and on feeder roads as well.
