Church of Latter-day Saints Donates to Dominica State College
On Monday June 3, 2019, during a Handing over Ceremony, the Dominica State College (DSC) received a donation of 29 HP Laptop Computers and 10 Epson Powerline Projectors from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), (Dominica). The local LDS community, represented by President Anthony George, explained that following the devastation of Hurricane Maria, the Church wanted to make a meaningful contribution to DSC.
Having heard of the widespread damage that the College suffered, and fully aware of the importance of computers and IT equipment to an institution of Higher Learning, the idea of a donation of laptops and projectors was generated.
Dr. Hermancia Eugene-Zamore, Dean of Academic Affairs, expressed thanks on behalf of the College’s students and staff for this donation. She also especially recognized the efforts of Mr. Claudius Sanford, Economics Lecturer at the DSC, who was very instrumental in getting this charity project off the ground and also served as liaison between DSC and the LDS community.
The Dominica State College is very grateful and looks forward to a continued relationship with the local branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
