Clothing, Textiles, Electronics and Appliance Stores Now Allowed to Open
Clothing, textiles, electronics and appliance stores have now joined the businesses allowed to re-open across the country. This is part of the gradual re-opening of various businesses across different sectors in the face of reducing incidents of coronavirus in Dominica.
Minister of Health Dr. Irving McIntyre said the businesses allowed to re-open must ensure that customers sanitize their hands and that social distancing is observed in all business premises. “Businesses which are allowed to operate must put in place measures to ensure that their staff and customers adhere to the Ministry of Health’s preventative measures and guidelines…” he said.
Meanwhile, the government has re-opened beaches and rivers and limited the number of attendance to these public resorts to 10. McIntyre said people can enjoy their visits to rivers and beaches but “there must not be loud music, picnics or parties on the beaches and groups, not more than 10 persons, will be allowed, practising physical distancing as much as possible.”
Since the police will be patrolling the beaches and local communities to ensure law order, the health minister said anyone found flouting government regulations regarding the pandemic will be arrested and charged to court. “Failure to implement these necessary measures will result in the temporary closure of the specific business places,” McIntyre informed.
Nightclubs, game shops, hair salons, barber shops, sulphur spas, schools, churches, gyms, manicure and pedicure shops will remain closed until the government reviews the current COVID-19 situation to determine their re-opening.
