Coach Latchoo Disappointed with Dominica’s Loss to Suriname in CONCACAF
Dominica’s Head Coach, Rajesh Latchoo, is disappointed with Dominica’s loss to Suriname on Thursday, even as the team battles St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Sunday. Dominica lost 2-1 to Suriname in the CONCACAF Nations League on Thursday at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium.
Dominica won a 4-0 victory over Bahama in their last game, but their joys of the victory paled when Suriname scored their first goal within the first seven minutes of the match. Dominica equalized in the 22nd minute of the game when Antherne Frederick located the net, and both teams were on a 1-1 rating by the end of the first half.
Although both teams played hard during the second half of the game, they lost lots of opportunities to score goals. But the Suriname team kept up the heat and in the 91st minute of the match scored another goal through Gleofilo Vlijter. Analysts said the Dominican team’s performance waned in the second half and they played below expectation, giving the Suriname team an upper hand at the tail-end of the game.
“Suriname wanted the game more than us, as I told the players,” Latchoo said. “I’m very disappointed with the second-half performance because we lay down and die; and normally we known for a team that’s very physical and we fight till the end and the last minute, even the time we gave up the goal, that’s ridiculous and the players accept responsibility for that because they on the field.”
