Colin Piper Says All DDA’s Objectives for 2023 Carnival Were Fulfilled

The national director for tourism, Colin Piper, has revealed that all the objectives set for the 2023 carnival celebrations were fulfilled. He said the Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with Dominica Destination Authority (DDA) set forth three major objectives and they all were realized. He attributed the success to the synergy between all levels of organizers.

Speaking at the state-owned radio station, Dominica Broadcasting Service (DBS), Piper said the objectives including attracting thousands of visitors to Dominica; boosting tourism and economic revenue; and ensuring abundance of local food and beverage for all tourists and visitors to the Island. He said local citizens are also happy for the overall success of the events.

The tourism director emphasized that as many as wanted to visit Dominica for the carnival celebrations were able to attend, and that airplanes brought large passengers into the country. He appreciated government and local organizers for the carnival and said he looks forward to a better experience during next year’s events.

Still talking of airflights to Dominica, PM Roosevelt Skerrit has told regional heads of government at CARICOM’s 44th conference that regional flights to Eastern Caribbean region should be boosted. While stating that the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) has been tasked with investigating the challenges faced by regional carriers, Skerrit said solutions to the problem of intra-regional travel should be examined.
