Colton T Says His Music Is Based on Life, Reality and People’s Struggles
Colton T said his music is based on life, reality and people’s struggles. Colton Thomas, but Colton T for short, said his music is inspired by what people around him are passing through and what impacts them in everyday situations. The dancehall artiste who said he loves Bouyon music, performed at the just concluded 2019 World Creole Music Festival (WCMF) for the first time.
Colton tried to feature at WCMF events for the past six years without success, but he got his breakthrough this time around when he was called up to perform at the festivals. He shared the Windsor Park Sports Stadium with local and international artistes, but he had his own performance during the first night of the event. His music resonated with the audience and his performance was electric, reverberating throughout the stadium and replaying on people’s minds afterwards.
During a media interview after his performance, Colton T confessed that “I really enjoyed myself and I believe the people had fun, and that’s important; the people enjoyed themselves”. The artiste whose mother, Margaret Graham, passed away earlier this year gave tribute to her on the stage, saying he has come to terms with her untimely departure.
He said the tribute was a way of thanking his mother for everything she did for him. He added that he has come to accept the fact that people die at some point, knowing fully well that his mother is in a good place.
Talking about his music and the future, Colton T revealed that “I cannot predict the future, but what I know for now is that I am going to continue working hard.” He disclosed that he gets inspiration for his songs from the reality of life and what people experience in his environment. He noted that his entire musical career is about “Life itself, people, and the struggles.”
Some of his top tracks include ‘IceCream Man’, ‘Bomb in the City’, ‘Everything and More’, ‘Lose it, ‘Friends and Benefits’, ‘Special’ and ‘Role Model’, among others. He revealed Bouyon music influences his brand of music because “that is what we are known for…that’s what makes my story great.”
