CONCACAF: Dominica Draws against Anguilla 0-0 and 1-1 Respectively
On Thursday, Dominica played 0-0 draw against Anguilla during the CONCACAF tournament at the Raymond E. Guishard Stadium in Anguilla. And on Sunday, Dominica also played 1-1 draw against Anguilla at the Warner Park in St. Kitts and Nevis – making the second time the national men’s team will be drawing against Anguilla in the League C, Group C matches.
The Dominican team exercised greater domination during the matches but failed to secure clear wins. They had greater ball possession and struggled to break through the Anguillan defences without success, and the Anguillian goalkeeper Danniell Bailey was in top shape at the Raymond Guishard Stadium, saving several shots and parrying some away.
The captain of the Dominican side, Glenson Prince, said he was not impressed with the team’s performance, saying they had a problem with proper execution. The head coach of the national team, Rajesh Latchoo, said the team executed well during their many trainings but failed to convert effectively during the major competitions. He said he took responsibility for their average performance.
At the match in St. Kitts, Julian Wade scored against Anguilla in the fourth minute, but the team failed to consolidate on the lone goal throughout the first half. And in the 56th minute, Guishard from the Anguillan side found the back of the net against Dominica to earn a 1-1 draw for his country. The Dominican team pushed hard to add one more goal before the end of the match but they floundered until the referee blew the final whistle.
Dominica’s next match is fixed for Thursday, June 9, against St. Lucia at the Windsor Park.
Meanwhile, the Barana Aute Warriors defeated the Indian River Rowers to emerge the champion in the first-ever Dream 11 Nature Isle T10 cricket tournament which held at the Windsor Park stadium on Sunday.
