PM Roosevelt Skerrit has altered work on the proposed international airport due to the fears of coronavirus spreading to Dominica or the Caribbean.
Skerrit disclosed that a team of technical experts were supposed to arrive to the country in February over the airport project, but their visit was postposed indefinitely until the deadly COVID-19 is brought under permanent control.
The prime minister said he was also scheduled to visit China in regard to the proposed airport, but this visit has been shelved until further notice. He said that Chinese experts who are already in Dominica before the outbreak of coronavirus may have to be assigned to other aspects of the project until the team from China comes to the island.
Skerrit said the health of the nation is the first priority of his administration for now, and constructing the international airport can come later when the wellbeing of everyone is assured.
