A Magistrate of the court in Roseau has sent murder accused Norman Roland to the Acute Psychiatric Unit (APU) for two weeks where he will undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
The Fond Cole resident on December 31, 2018 at the Roseau Market used a knife and inflicted several stab wounds to at least four women including one Dominican and three Haitian nationals. One Haitian national residing in Pointe Michel died as a result of the stab wounds that she received.
Roland appeared in court today January 3, 2019 looking dazed and confused and when questioned by the magistrate if he knew what was going on he replied “no”. He claimed that his life has been threatened. As a result, the magistrate ordered him taken to the APU for evaluation after which he will be brought back to court on January 17, 2019.
The charges against him were not read. He is unrepresented in the matter.
