The number of active COVID-19 cases in Dominica has hit 1,005 while the death toll remains 51. This was the tabulated figure as at Thursday, February 3, 2022, according to the Ministry of Health. The number of people that have been fully vaccinated is 29,175 while 31,862 are partially vaccinated.

The health ministry further revealed that 101 new cases were discovered as at the above date – 95 confirmed by antigen test and 6 by PCR test. The total number of people that have undergone treatment and fully recovered from the pandemic stands at 8,666 even though the total number of confirmed cases is 9,722.

The health ministry also disclosed that a total of 152,095 tests was conducted – 33,779 by PCR and 118,316 by antigen. A total of 42 discharges were made so far. The ministry warned that social distancing and frequent handwashing, as well as the use of face masks, remain the only preventative measure against contracting and spreading the disease. The government also warned that social clusters of people must be avoided and social events such as picnics, indoor parties, sporting events, and other public celebrations must only hold after due approval from relevant authorities. Given that most schools operate online learning at the moment to curtail the spread of the disease, the government promised that classroom learning will commence in the next few weeks after the health crisis in the country improves.
