COVID-19 Cases Back To Zero; National Borders May Reopen In July
Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit revealed that COVID-19 cases in Dominica are now zero, and that national borders may reopen in July. Having succeeded at flattening the curve of the coronavirus pandemic in the country, Skerrit said the government will consider reopening its borders as from July to facilitate the movement of people and goods across international zones.
I am not sure what date in July yet, but certainly, in July, God’s willing, we will open up the borders. So certainly, by July, we will have commercial flights coming in and leaving Dominica.

According to the prime minister, the two positive coronavirus cases obtained from cruise ships have been fully treated and discharged following their recovery. He added there is no longer any active COVID-19 cases in Dominica and that the country is moving forward to other stages of progressive development.
PM Skerrit stated that he is aware of the risks of people importing the disease into the country following the reopening of national borders, but that the Ministry of Health has instituted safety protocols that must be implemented for visitors and citizens coming into Dominica. He said with strict adherence to recommendations of the health ministry, it is hoped that there won’t be any new cases of the disease from people coming into the country.
Skerrit made it clear that governments around the world are relaxing safety rules and reopening businesses and borders in cases of flattened COVID-19 curve, hinting that this is necessary to revive crawling economies and boost livelihoods for people around the country.
