CSA Hosts Students – Youth Workshop for Modern – Day Workforce Success
The Commonwealth Students Association (CSA) just completed a 5-day Youth and Student Development Workshop tagged “Work for Success: Preparation for the Modern-Day Workforce”.
Held in Dominica, organizers and attendees hailed the program as a real success. It was put up to train and expose youths to the rudiments of governance at a campus level. Attendees were able to learn the basic requirements for leadership.
Following the program, attendees came up with the need to establish a National Student Organization where students and youths everywhere will be able to determine issues as it affects them.
Together with the Commonwealth Youth Council, the CSA organized its first ever Chill & Chat event some weeks back. The monthly talk-show is streamed live on social media, and it focuses on getting youths to talk about matters affecting them in every sphere of private and public life. The maiden edition of the event focused on “Sustainable Youth Development through Advocacy, Entrepreneurship and Empowerment”, and guest speakers at the program included –
- Franz George – Commonwealth Youth Council
- Mrs. Kerry Ann Timothy – Dominica Youth Business Trust
- Mr. David Thornhill – a training consultant
The guest speakers at the occasion were able to address issues confronting the youth population in Dominica, increased visibility for the Commonwealth Youth Council throughout the Caribbean, and the DYBT’s Entrepreneurial Development Programme and Mentorship.
During the recently concluded CSA workshop, participants discussed how to make the work environment attractive to youths with a view to increasing productivity. Attendees also learned skills needed for entrepreneurship and a rewarding work experience.
Resource persons from across the country were at the program to train the students and youths. Given the overall positive outcome of the event, the organizers expressed their appreciation to collaborators, the media, facilitators, the Ministry of Youth Affairs, the Dominica Youth Business Trust and the ECCB Agency Office.
