A community health fair in Mahaut brought together medical professionals from Cuba and Dominica, offering free consultations and reinforcing a longstanding partnership in healthcare. Organized by the Ministry of Health, the event saw specialists from both nations providing a range of medical services to over a hundred residents.
The initiative was attended by Minister of Health Cassanni Laville and Cuban Ambassador Miguel Fraga, who both acknowledged the positive impact of this collaboration. Also present were Dominica’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Lynora Fevrier Drigo, and the Chief of the Cuban Medical Brigade, Dr. Francisco Sanchez.
Cuban medical personnel have played a key role in Dominica’s healthcare sector, and their involvement in the fair underscored their continued commitment. Minister Laville expressed gratitude for their contributions, emphasizing that their support strengthens the country’s healthcare system and ensures better access to medical services for the population.
Ambassador Fraga highlighted the deep-rooted cooperation between Cuba and Dominica, calling the fair a testament to the strong ties between the two nations. He noted that such initiatives not only enhance medical services but also foster cultural and professional exchanges that benefit both sides.
The event was dedicated to the 66th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution and the 172nd birthday of Cuba’s national hero, José MartÃ. Participants and organizers alike recognized the fair as a success, with many advocating for similar initiatives to be extended to other communities across Dominica.
