Curfew Hours Changed To 10 PM-5 AM from June 15; Govt Still on Red Alert
New curfew hours will go into effect on Monday, June 15, 2020 across Dominica in the face of the current COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the Minister for Health, Dr. Irving McIntyre, the new curfew hours is now changed to 10 pm to 5 am and everyone must comply with government regulations to facilitate the conquest of the pandemic.
McIntyre noted that the country has only two active COVID-19 cases at the moment, but that does not stop high risk groups from being tested in case of asymptomatic carriers. Those scheduled for testing include public bus drivers, cashiers, prison officials, and nursing home workers among others.
Although there has been no community spread of the disease, the minister said the government will no leave no stones unturned to ensure the safety of every citizen.
Meanwhile, businesses such as gyms, bars, hotels, tour operators, cinemas, libraries and gaming shops can now re-open and operate at normal hours but they must shut down at curfew hours. People are also allowed to visit beaches and rivers in groups of 10 while adhering to safety protocols and health regulations.
Extra care must also be taken to wear face masks, wash hands, and maintain social distancing in any public place.
