CXC Postpones 2022 Regional Exam by Three Weeks; to Commence May 23

This year’s Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) has been postponed by three weeks. CXC Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Wayne Wesley, announced that the 2022 CXC examination is now slated to kick off on Monday, May 23. Final results will be released in August or September.

Wesley said the CXC took this decision after ministries of education from regional countries said the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the educational system impacted students’ abilities to sit for the exam. He noted that the postponement would enable academically disadvantaged students to and catch up on their studies before seating for their papers.

The CXC director also announced that the submission of School Based Assessment (SBA) for CAPE and CSEC has been postponed by two weeks. He instructed that “the release broad topics be communicated to candidates” so they can prepare adequately in advance. He noted that the CXC remains committed to the concerns of relevant stakeholders in ensuring that the interests of students are catered for in the region.
