DAIC Elects New Executive at 2020 Annual General Meeting
The Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce (DAIC) elected a new Board of Directors at its 2020 Annual General Meeting held on August 20th, 2020.
Mr. Stephen Lander, Country Head of CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank, was elected to serve as President for the 2020-2021 year. Mr. Brenton Hilaire, the Agency Manager of Sagicor Life, was elected as the Senior Vice President.
The other Officers and Directors comprising the Board of Directors are:
- Treasurer – Joel Denis (National Bank of Dominica Ltd)
- Assistant Treasurer – Evadney Esprit (Karl Nassief Group of Companies/Do It Center)
- PRO – Sheldon Casimir (U.N.I.T.E.)
- Immediate Past President – Kenneth Green (FSI Creative)
- Director – Chris John (ADS Construction Inc)
- Director – Damien Sorhaindo (DCP Successors Ltd)
- Director – Deborah Edward (SOL EC Limited (Dominica))
- Director – Jeffrey Baptiste (Cable and Wireless Dominica)
- Director – John Robin (Benjo Seamoss and Agro Processors Limited)
- Director – Nikima Royer Jno Baptiste (Digicel Dominica)
Mr. Lander expressed his desire to embrace the challenges ahead as he works with the new Board of Directors and Members. He noted the need to keep improving the Chamber’s value delivery to its members and build on the initiates of his forerunners.
Mr. Lander cited the improvement in the representation of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) as a key achievement for the chamber and committed to continuing efforts in that regard.
another focal area in this operating year will be the improvement of data analytics and insights; to assist Members in improving their decision making.
At the AGM, DAIC’s Executive Director, Lizra Fabien, noted the release of the 2019-2020 Annual General Report, which highlights the support provided to the Membership, major advocacy areas on behalf of the Membership, and business community and the partnerships that have been strengthened. This report also shares key highlights of the Network of Caribbean Chambers of Commerce (CARICHAM), the extent of DAIC’s representation through various Boards and Committees, the DAIC’s support of the Arthur Waldron SDA Academy, and feedback from Members on the value received from the Chamber.
