The Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce (DAIC) has expressed support for government efforts at boosting commerce in Dominica and eliminating coronavirus on the island. This support was expressed by DAIC President, Kenneth Green, who also credited the Ministry of Health with slowing the spread of COVID-19 and treating infected patients.
Green said DAIC will continue to support government efforts at eradicating coronavirus in Dominica because this is essential for a business climate to thrive. He said there can be no real commerce where the health of the nation is at risk, and that the necessary lockdown has impacted almost all industries to the detriment of revenue generation and business growths. He tasked all Dominicans to cooperate with the government to facilitate a quick end to the coronavirus pandemic on the island.
Green also noted that DAIC members continue to seek for flexible solutions to reward customers for their patronage. He said his association has partnered with the Dominica Hotel and Tourism Association (DHTA) to carry out a survey which the government can utilize to formulate policies that will promote the health of the commerce industry. He added that the survey would also help the government to grow the economy for the betterment of everyone in Dominica.
The industry and commerce president added that DAIC is conforming to a new operation model in the face of COVID-19 and its attendant lockdown. He encouraged people to reach out to their financial institutions for quality packages and economic stimuluses that could help them survive the lockdown.
