DAPD Targets $70,000 for 2024 National Dollar Day Campaign
The Dominica Association of Persons with Disabilities (DAPD) has set a target of $70,000 for its 2024 National Dollar Day fundraiser, marking the 18th annual event. DAPD President Judy Sango remains hopeful that the organization will reach its goal this year, despite falling short in previous years.
The fundraiser, themed “Your Benevolence, Our Continued Existence,” is a crucial part of the DAPD’s operations, helping to fund essential services for persons with disabilities.
National Dollar Day, first launched in 2006 by former DAPD treasurer Micheal Murphy, has become the organization’s primary fundraising initiative. Sango encourages everyone to contribute at least one dollar, noting, “These funds go towards continuing to provide the important services for persons with disabilities, the programs, and our essential services.”
Sango highlighted the importance of public support for the DAPD’s ongoing advocacy efforts and service provision. “The funds that are donated are going to a good cause. I just want to appeal to persons to assist, as we provide for persons with disabilities who need these crucial services across Dominica.”
The DAPD has been supporting Dominicans with disabilities for over 40 years, and Sango expressed her gratitude to those who have already donated or plan to contribute.
Donations for the 2024 Dollar Day fundraiser will be accepted through December 31 at the DAPD office in Goodwill, or by contacting the office for more information.
