DAPD’s 40th Anniversary Awards and Appreciation Ceremony

The Dominica Association of Persons with Disabilities (DAPD) will hold an Awards and Appreciation Ceremony on Thursday 26th October 2023 as activities in observance of its 40th Anniversary continue.

At that ceremony, forty (40) organizations, institutions and individuals will be recognized for their tangible and sustained support to the Association over a number of years. The event will be held under the theme” Celebrating Forty years of Resilient Advocacy”.

Keynote Speaker at the function will be Executive Director of the St. Lucia Blind Welfare Association, Anthony Avril, OBE. There will also be addresses from Hon. Cassamni Lavill, Minister of Health, Wellness and Social Services and Hon. Miriam Blanchard Parliamentary Representative for the Roseau North Constituency.

A 40th Anniversary Commemorative Magazine will also be launched.

The event will be co- hosted by Wilma Thomas of Dominica and Bhawani Persad of Trinidad and Tobago.

Dominica Association of Persons with Disabilities (DAPD) Inc. was established in 1983 by nine disabled persons with the late Reginald Rolle being the Founder. As a cross-disability, consumer-based movement, our philosophy has been self-advocacy, self-help, self-reliance and self-representation. We offer skills development programmes aimed at assisting persons with disabilities to become productive and contributing members of society.
