DASPA CEO Says Port Worker Must Wait Longer To Have His Benefits Paid
Since Jammers, a former DASPA employee, was relieved of his job in 2014, the Marigot native is yet to be paid his benefits. Jammers and Vescott Jones were sacked after allegedly allowing Lennox Linton to export crabs without government authorization. Jammers recently went to Q95 FM to claim that his benefits are still pending and that he has aged parents and dependants to support.
DASPA CEO Benoit Bardouille, said he cannot talk at length on the case since it is still before a tribunal. Jammers’ lawyer, Gildon Richards, claims in his application before the tribunal that Bardouille dismissed his client unlawfully and that he should be reinstated with his full benefits paid. The case has however remained unresolved since 2014 and Jammers’ sympathizers say he is being unduly victimized by the government.
Bardouille stated that processes have to be adhered to in cases like this and that Jammers is only trying to take advantage of the system. He said Jammers is only trying to whip up sentiments by saying that his benefits are being deliberately delayed and that he has no powers over when the tribunal will resolve the case. He added that his payments will be processed in due time and that DASPA is on top of the situation.
