A UK charity organization, DASSSA, donates Wi-Fi projectors to 14 Dominica secondary schools. The Dominica Secondary Schools Supporters (DASSSA) presented the Wi-Fi projectors to a teacher and student of each beneficiary school at a brief testimony conducted at the Dominica Grammar School.
The Ministry of Education has revealed their plans to encourage the use of more digital communication technologies in school classrooms. Principal of the Goodwill Secondary School, Edina Darwton, said the donated Wi-Fi projectors will bring to reality the government’s resolve for the use of technology in schools.
Darwton disclosed that with the projectors, students can view lessons taught on their cellphones or tablets on a larger scale. She said the projectors will be a great learning resource to help students derive more value from academic classroom activities. She encouraged beneficiary schools to care for the devices so that both outgoing and incoming students can benefit from them for a long time.
Vice chairperson of DASSSA, Kathy Casimir MacLean, revealed that the organization is delighted to be of help to secondary schools in Dominica. She said DASSSA, which has been in existence for 10 years in the UK, is committed to assisting secondary schools as well as supporting indigent students acquire needed education.
MacLean said all secondary schools in the UK use Wi-Fi projectors in classrooms, and these provide tremendous learning support to children. The 14 beneficiary schools are –
