DCFH Medical Director Calls for Public Collaboration for the Health Sector

The medical director of the Dominica China Friendship Hospital (DCFH), Dr. Ruby Blanc, has called for public collaboration for the healthcare sector. The group head of the foremost hospital in Dominica said the government alone cannot further healthcare services in the country without the cooperation of the citizenry. She particularly noted that the DCFH needs the partnership of the public to exceed the expectations of the people.

According to Blanc, the DCFH must particularly be upgraded with the support of the citizenry since it is one general hospital built to cater to the medical needs of the entire nation. She explained that anyone could be ill and require hospitalization at any point in time, and that the DCFH would be ready to treat patients if the public collaborates to take the hospital to the next level.

In the same vein, the CEO of DCFH, Dr. Dexter James, has revealed that the Marigot Hospital has neared 95% completion and will soon open to the public when it is ready to go operational. He stated that the hospital has 50 beds, two operating theatres, six ICUs, an accident and emergency department, as well as other major departments and facilities. According to him, the hospital will open to the public in phases after it has been commissioned by the government to start operation in the next few months.
