Denise Charles Attends Tourism Conference in Cayman Islands
Dominica’s tourism minister, Denise Charles, is presently attending a high-profile tourism conference in the Cayman Islands. The conference is facilitated by the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism and it will be rounded up on September 15.
In attendance at the event are tourism ministers from the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, St. Lucia, Belize, and Grenada among others. Also in attendance are government leaders, senior aviation executives, hospitality and culture experts, as well as members of the press.
The focal agenda for the conference is to identify and explore tourism in the Caribbean and beyond, and to boost a more competitive air travel that will surpass what existed before the coronavirus pandemic. Tourism and travel opportunities and challenges were also discussed; and infrastructure investments for multi-tourism destinations were considered.
The Caribbean Tourism Youth Congress made inputs during the event and CTO’s business meetings were facilitated. Tourism and hospitality representatives from participating countries highlighted what their home governments are doing to boost tourism and shared insights into tourism development in their countries.
Members of the press at the conference asked questions on matters of interest as they relate to tourism destinations, tourism revenues, transportation models, travel fees and taxes, as well as other matters on the agenda. It is expected that Minister Denise Charles will hold a press conference on her return to Dominica to highlight some of the things the government will be doing to implement initiatives discussed at the conference.
