DFA President, Glen Etienne, Urges Clubs to Register In Time for 2021 Season
DFA President, Glen Etienne, has urged Dominica’s football clubs to expedite their registrations for the 2021 football season before it becomes too late to do so. According to him, the deadline for the clubs to register for the new season is past, and no clubs will be issued licenses to play in the new season without due registrations.
Etienne said a few clubs have completed their registrations, but many others are yet to do so. He revealed that the Nation Cup is about to commence and the clubs expected to participate in the competition are yet to receive their certifications. He noted that there is no way clubs will be allowed to play in the competition if they do not register to be certified.
The first part of the registration process requires the completion of four online forms. These forms cater to the infrastructure, finance, youth development, and general club form of each football organization. The second part of the registration involves the presentation of clubs’ legal declaration forms, statuses, club ownership details, control mechanism form, new season budget, and first team list to the DFA for evaluation.
“The deadline has since gone and we still have a few clubs that have not yet fully complied with the requirements,” Etienne stated. “The clubs must be reminded that if they are not certified, then they can’t play in the league. Therefore, I want to appeal to them to complete the process and gain certification. If the clubs are not certified, they cannot play and this would be hurting the players. We do not want to hurt the players.”
Once a club has fully complied with the registration requirements, the submitted application is vetted by the First Instance Body (FIB) before eligible clubs are issued with the necessary license to play in the leagues for any given season.
