DFP’s Johnson Boston and Kent Vital Express Dissatisfaction with Skerrit’s Government
Dominica Freedom Party’s Johnson Boston and Kent Vital have expressed dissatisfaction with Roosevelt Skerrit’s government. Boston is the party’s chairman, and he accused the prime minister of cornering the country’s funds to assist whomever he wants to assist. Vital on the other hand tasked Dominicans not to swallow everything the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) hook, line and sinker without asking questions.
Boston said the prime minister made it impossible for people requiring national assistance to follow the proper channel. He said Skerrit chooses who to help and when to help anyone, using state money or any other public funds based on his discretions. He said Skerrit’s “Red Clinic Program” was intentionally developed to make Dominicans fully dependent on the wiles and caprices of the present administration.
According to Boston, the present administration has given people the wrong notion of what constitutes good governance, all in the bid to win cheap political points.
Vital said it is high time the people shifted from blind party allegiance to questioning the dictates of the government. He said the people should stop being passive and subservient to everything the DLP government says or does. Unless the people are proactive in this regard, the future generations of Dominicans will suffer for the people’s inactions, he said.
Vital said Dominicans should do away with the idea that you shouldn’t “bite the hand that feeds you” because that is what the present leadership is using to brainwash the people.
According to him, “Do what you have to do. If you have to take what you have to take, then just make sure your conscience is clear with the Lord, and don’t vote for these guys; because they are trying to use that kind of bad psychology on you. So let’s understand these things and let’s share it with the people.”
