DGS Class of ’87 Gives Scholarship to Students for Their CXC Examination

The Old Students Association of the Dominica Grammar School (DGS) has provided scholarships to several students of the school. The Class of 1987 offered scholarships to Form 5 students of the school towards their CXC examination. The financial assistance was given based on merits and needs.

President of the Class of ’87, Daniel James, said it was a thing of joy for the old students to return to their Alma Mata and be of assistance of current students who are studying hard to succeed in life. He said the Old Students Association is grateful to the teachers who taught them during their period at the school, and also grateful for how the old students have all succeeded in their various calls of life.

“This is just a token of our appreciation for walking through these halls, and being taught by the many teachers; we became what we are today because of our Alma Mata, the Dominica Grammar School,” James said.

Current DGS Principal, Alicia Jean-Jacques, thanked the Class of ’87 for their thoughtfulness and appreciated them for their help to current students of the school. She also encouraged beneficiaries of the scholarships to make good use of the opportunity and ensure they succeed at their academic pursuits.

“I say a sincere thank you to you on behalf of the students and hope that when they get to your age and positions, they will also give back,” Jean-Jacques stated.
