DHTA Welcomes the Managed Experience Approval by Government for Tourism Sector

The Dominica Hotel & Tourism Association (DHTA) welcomes a decision by the Government of Dominica to approve the ‘Managed Experience’ for the tourism sector.

The ‘Managed Experience’ is a ‘Tourism Bubble,’ which allows specific activities for tourists at certified accommodations, within strict protocols approved by the Ministry of Health Wellness and New Health Investment.

It covers activities for visitors, transportation procedures, and health and safety protocols. Guests will be permitted to access services at certified properties and enjoy all property amenities in a safe manner.
The bubble will extend to water-based activities and visits to land based sites, and tourists are expected to adhere to established protocols.

The protocols for the ‘Managed Experience’ were developed by the Ministry of Tourism, International Transport and Maritime Initiatives, the Ministry of Health, Wellness and New Health Investments, in conjunction with the Discover Dominica Authority, the Dominica Hotel & Tourism Association and the Dominica Association of Industry & Commerce.

The Dominica Hotel & Tourism Association is pleased to have played a key role in advocating for the ‘Managed Experience,’ and in formulating the guidelines for the resumption of activity within the tourism sector. The DHTA will work with its certified member accommodations, taxi operators and tour guides and other certified service providers to offer guests a safe and comfortable experience.

The DHTA commits to very strict application of social distancing protocols, the wearing of face-masks, and sanitization measures to safeguard the health and safety of all Dominicans.

The DHTA also commends and thanks the Government of Dominica for its inclusive approach in developing the guidelines and protocols for the ‘Managed Experience.’
