DLP Delegates Conference to Be Scheduled After National Council Meeting

The DLP delegates conferences has been planned to hold at a date to be agreed upon after the party’s national council meeting is convened on Saturday, February 27. This development was announced by the DLP General Secretary, Edward Registe. He stated that the February 27 date for the national council meeting was fixed at a recent meeting of the party executives.

Registe disclosed that the national council is the highest decision-making arm of the DLP party, and the body is saddled with the responsibility of determining when the party’s delegates’ conference should hold. According to him, the delegates’ conference usually holds after the national council meeting since the date is agreed upon at the meeting.

Registe believes the conference will hold sometime after the Lenten season, and the new executives of the ruling party will be elected at the conference. The newly elected executives will be in charge of managing the affairs of the party and charting the future course of the political organization.

The DLP at the February 27, 2019 delegates’ conference anointed Roosevelt Skerrit as the flagbearer of the party, and this was when the prime minister announced his team.

The national council meeting and the delegates conference will put paid to the derision of the opposition party that the DLP has not had a delegates’ conference in a long time. Former UN ambassador Gregoire mocked the ruling party as a cult that had not held a conference in a long time, but the upcoming meeting will give the opposition something else to think about.
