DLP’s Cancellation of Salisbury Rally Scheduled for 29th NOV

The Dominica Labour Party regrets to inform all Labourites and all Dominicans that the launching of the DLP candidate for the Salisbury Constituency, Ms. Lynsia Frank, which was scheduled for today, Tuesday November 29, at the Salisbury Playing Field has been cancelled.

The DLP is concerned for the safety of the thousands of Dominicans who would attend this rally to show support for our candidate, Ms. Lynsia Frank, and for the Dominica Labour Party.

Over the past few days, and more so, in the last 12 hours, there have been several reports of threats made to the supporters of the DLP. We have also received information that some elements of the United Workers Party, aided and abetted by the former Member of Parliament of the Salisbury

Constituency, are planning to take actions to prevent Labourites and Dominicans from participating in our rally in Salisbury. Some of these UWP operatives have confronted our technical team and obstructed them in the preparation of the venue for our rally.

From the utterances and the actions of the former MP, it seems he has finally come to the realization that he will no longer be the MP for the Salisbury Constituency and will therefore, no longer be receiving a salary for doing nothing. Clearly, his anger is

misplaced and rather than being upset at the DLP and the voters in Salisbury who have made up their minds to vote for the DLP, he should be upset with his party for not participating in the December 6, 2022, general elections.

The actions of Mr. John and the few UWP operatives in the village of Salisbury are without a doubt to create disruption that could lead to violence, the destruction of

property and even the loss of lives. The DLP will not be lured into this potentially deadly environment and will not put the lives of our supporters and Dominicans at risk. One incident would be one too many.

We apologize to the many vendors, and shop owners who have lost the opportunity to generate some income from the presence of thousands of Dominicans who would visit Salisbury for the DLP Rally.

Clearly, the former MP for the Salisbury Constituency seems determined to create a riotous situation in Salisbury that would taint the outcome of our elections and bring the attention of the international community on Dominica.

The DLP is a mature organization. We are the most organized and disciplined party in the history of Dominica. The DLP is well known for its love and affection for all Dominicans. The DLP is a peaceful political party and avoids confrontation at all costs.

We shall nonetheless continue our campaign in every village, in every part of the Salisbury Constituency.

The DLP will therefore shift its meeting tonight to Vieille Case where the featured speakers shall be the Political Leader of the DLP, MP for the Vieille Case Constituency and Prime Minister, Hon. Roosevelt Skeritt and Lynsia Frank, the DLP candidate for the Salisbury Constituency.
