Dominica Achieves Outstanding Regional Average Result in 2020 CSEC Exams
Local CXC Registrar, Magali Celestine, has revealed that Dominica achieved an outstanding Regional Average result of 3.95% in the 2020 CSEC examinations. The registrar reached this conclusion after analyzing the preliminary results of the 2020 CXC examinations following its recent release.
According to her, 10 of 15 secondary schools excelled beyond the regional average of 74.75%, while the country achieved outstanding performance above the regional average in 25 of the entire 33 CSEC subjects sat for at the exams. She revealed that the country did well in all science and business subjects – except in Economics.
She said students also shined in all TVET subjects, excluding Food Nutrition, Health, and Industrial Building Technology. Furthermore, the country scored a 93.1% average in English even though the usual regional average had always been 78.62%. Dominica also achieved an average score of 77.8% in Additional Mathematics even though other countries in the region had scored 7.46% lesser. In Biology, the country had 82.6% while the regional average for it is 73.9%.
“In terms of our science-related subjects, agricultural science double award maintains a 100% pass again this year,” Ms. Celestine explained. “This subject is offered at only two secondary schools and they continue to excel. I really hope that other schools will consider offering this subject in the near future.”
