The Dominica Business Forum (DBF) has scheduled a meeting via Zoom video conferencing with businesses in the private sector. The online meeting is scheduled to hold after the elimination of coronavirus in Dominica or following the ease of the lockdown situation on the island.
The ultimate objective of the business meeting is to mobilize sectoral cooperation from small, medium-scale, as well as large-scale businesses in the country.
The DBF is an umbrella body for several business organizations in the country. These include –
- The Dominica Hotel and Tourism Association
- The Dominica Manufacturers Association
- The Dominica Employers Federation
- The Builders and Contractors Association of Dominica
- The Dominica Coalition Of Service Industries
Just last week, the DBF issued a statement highlighting the need to embrace health, economic sustenance, and business opportunities among others. The group made it clear that the public statement was not only for its varied members, but for other business organizations that are not represented by any formal association
The group said the challenges of COVID-19 have shown that business and economic growth is an all-inclusive participation for the public sector, private sector, and civil society.
For the scheduled conference, the DBF aims to generate discussions around the impact of coronavirus on businesses and how to chart the way forward for future positioning. Part of the scheduled meeting includes proposals to the government as well as support from the general public for business and medical sectors.
The group urges the government to consider a gradual easing of the lockdown situation in the country, while imploring members of the general public to adhere to all stipulated rules for stopping the spread of the pandemic.
