Dominica Crashes Out of CONCACAF after 0-1 Defeat to St. Lucia

Dominica has crashed out of the ongoing CONCACAF tournament after losing 0-1 to St. Lucia at Windsor Park. The Nature Boys’ hopes of advancing to the next stage of the League of Nations Cup were dashed on Thursday evening when they could not equalize against St. Lucia.

Both teams played goalless in the first half of the game; but St. Lucia came back aggressive in the second half and scored in the 54th minute of the match. Jarvic McFarlane scored the winning goal.

Head Coach Rajesh Latchoo had expressed hopes that his boys would win the match against St. Lucia given their earlier woeful performances against Anguilla. Dominica played two matches against Anguilla which ended in draws – a 1-1 match in Anguilla and a 0-0 match in St. Kitts and Nevis.

Latchoo said the men’s senior national football team had intensified their training and would have a chance against St. Lucia in the Group C League C CONCACAF tournament. But this did not happen eventually when they suffered defeat to St. Lucia.

As it stands, St. Lucia tops Group C with 3 points at one game; Anguilla comes second with 2 points at two games; and Dominica came third at 2 points at three games. On June 12, St. Lucia will be playing against Anguilla. But in March 2023, St. Lucia will face off with Anguilla again and Dominica will also tackle St. Lucia.
