Dominica Grammar School are secondary schools U15 Sports Division Champions

The Dominica Grammar School was crowned Champion in the U15 Division on Championship Friday 17th January 2020, in the Sports Division Secondary Schools Football competition.

It was a showcase of talent in Secondary Schools boys football at the U15 level.

The Dominica Grammar School capture the U15 Championship after a few years by defeating the Isiah Thomas Secondary School on penalty kick 3 goals to 1. The game was tied at 2 all at the end of regulation time.

The ITSS got of to a good start by scoring the first goal of the finals. Phillip Mathew found the back of the DGS goal when the DGS Goalkeeper failed to properly clear his goal area. However several minutes later it was the turn of the DGS camp to celebrate their equalizer when Malachi Bonney control just outside the Box went past a defender and hammered to right footer to the right of the diving DGS Goalkeeper giving him no chance. The first have ended 1 all.

The Isiah Thomas Secondary School went into the lead again in the second half when Jude Alexander forced home a loose ball over the stranded DGS Goalkeeper ITSS 2 DGS 1.

For a long time it looked like the ITSS would hold onto their lead, until Sergio Elwin pounced unto a loose ball about 20yds from the ITSS goal and struck a one timed right footer which sailed over the Goalkeeper head and into the goal to tie the score at 2 all. Both teams tried to score the winner but was unable to, the match ended 2 – 2, and penalty kicks was to decide the Champion School.

The Dominica Grammar School won 3 goals to 1 as the Isiah Thomas Secondary School failed to score on three of their first 4 penalty kicks, while the DGS converted on 3 of their five kick to lift the U15 Football Championship.

DGS captured all the George Carrington sponsored individual awards at stake in the finals.

U15 Champion DGS received the Championship Trophy and Football from the Sports Coordinator of the Sports Division.
