Dominica Has 8 New COVID-19 Cases; 12 Active Cases; and 68 Recoveries

Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dr. David Johnson, has revealed that the current COVID-19 statistics for Dominica is 8 new infections, 12 active cases, and 68 successful recoveries. He provided the historical data of the eight new cases and the events that led to their infection statuses.

According to Johnson, the first of the eight new cases is a 30-year-old male who disagreed that he ever travelled to any high-risk COVID-19 country or had contacts with any coronavirus-infected individual. He said the individual was tested by PCR on November 18 and the result turned out positive. He was asymptomatic but then admitted at an isolation centre in Portsmouth. His contacts are negative for COVID-19.

The second individual is a 19-year-old Nigerian lady who said she did not travel or interact with any coronavirus-infected persons. She turned positive after a community testing carried out on November 18 at All Saints University; she has also been admitted for observation at an isolation centre, but all her contacts are negative for the disease.

The third case is a 30-year-old woman who travelled to a high-risk country and returned to Dominica on November 13. She was isolated at arrival and tested positive for coronavirus on November 19, and has since been quarantined even though she remains asymptomatic. Her contacts are negative.

The fourth case is a 48-year-old man who just returned from the UK on November 14. He was isolated on arrival but tested positive within five days of quarantine. He tested positive on November 20 but remains asymptomatic; but his contacts are negative to coronavirus.

The fifth case is a 60-year-old man who tested positive after being quarantined at a private isolation facility. He was in contact with four people and they all tested positive for COVID-19. The individual and his contacts have been admitted for treatment at a government COVID-19 facility, the CMO disclosed.
